Verb = SER
Translation = to be

Uses:
1 Identify

Examples:
1 Soy Sra. Cochario. El Sr. Gruenwald es maestro
2 ¿De dónde eres tú? Soy de México.
3 Juan es alto.
4 ¿Qué hora es? Son las dos y cuarto.

Notes:

Ser is used to describe things that are permanent. When you see the word “de”, ser must come before it to describe origin.

Translation = to have

Notes:
Formula for age: “Tener” + # + años.

Formula for obligations: “Tener” + que + infinitive verb

Verb = IR
Translation = to go

Uses:
1 **** To say where someone goes
2 To talk about future plans or activities

Examples:
1 Voy a la cafetería.
Tú vas al gimnasio.
2 Ella va a mirar la tele.

Notes:
Ir is ALWAYS followed by the word “A”.
“a la” is used when the place you are going is feminine
“al” (a + el) is used when the place you are going is masculine

For location the word “es” always follows the verb estar.
